online disconnected
video art / experimental short film / digital identity
online disconnected explores the construction of identity within digital environments where presence is mediated, fragmented, and continuously reshaped through technological systems.
The work originates from an experimental sound composition built from sampled voices and synthetic textures, which later informed the visual structure. Rather than illustrating the audio, the moving image responds to it, translating rhythm, distortion, and repetition into a visual language that oscillates between clarity and collapse.
The piece reflects on how online spaces produce a paradoxical condition: hyper-connection coexisting with disconnection, visibility intertwined with opacity. Through glitches, compression artefacts, and unstable imagery, the work suggests a reality that is never fully accessible, but constantly reconstructed through interfaces and collective perception.
Positioned between experimental film and video art, Online Disconnected engages with contemporary questions around digital subjectivity, mediated experience, and the instability of what we understand as “real” in networked culture.

Luichi Gasca is a Barcelona-based visual artist and audiovisual creator working across moving image, sound, and digital media.
His practice focuses on experimental audiovisual processes, often beginning with sound as a generative structure from which visual narratives emerge. His work explores digital identity, synthetic environments, and the ways in which technology mediates perception and presence.
Through a language that combines found material, voice sampling, and glitch aesthetics, he investigates the tension between visibility and control in contemporary online culture. His projects operate between experimental cinema and video art, engaging with post-internet imaginaries and the instability of digital experience.
His work has been presented in experimental and digital art contexts, and continues to explore the intersection between sound, image, and contemporary networked culture.
selected works
Online Disconnected (Experimental Video)
An experimental audiovisual work exploring digital identity and mediated presence within contemporary online environments. Originating from a sound-based composition built from sampled voices and synthetic textures, the piece translates audio structures into a visual language of glitches, compression artefacts, and unstable imagery. It reflects on the tension between hyper-connection and disconnection, where visibility and perception are continuously shaped by technological systems.
El Jardín del Futuro (Experimental Short Film)
Awarded First Prize – HUMUS Film Fest, La Casa Encendida (Madrid), 2024
Awarded Special Prize – Arte Laguna Prize
Exhibited at MAMAM (Museu de Arte Moderna Aloisio Magalhães), Recife, 2026
An experimental short film imagining a speculative ecosystem generated and predicted by artificial intelligence. The work oscillates between machine-rendered simulations and imperfect natural footage, exposing the tension between control, collapse, and organic unpredictability. Its atmospheric pacing and minimalist narrative turn it into a meditative reflection on how technology models, influences, and distorts our relationship with nature.
Friedriich (Music Videos)
Over 200K views with organic promotion
A series of four music videos for Barcelona-based queer pop artist Friedriich, centering emotional storytelling through minimal, atmospheric visuals. Using mirrors, projections, and lo-fi digital textures, the videos explore heartbreak, healing, and self-perception. The aesthetic is intimate, symbolic, and rooted in queer identity.
Sensu (Installation / Data Visualization)
Awarded Best Data Visualization – Elisava Interactive Experiences
An installation based on a month-long log of human touch and emotional response. The data was transformed into a modular visual system of sculptural elements that visitors could rearrange to create their own emotional narratives. The project explores intimacy, memory, and the physical traces of social connection.
Techno Thoughts (Experimental Music Album)
A 10-track audio project where sound becomes a tool for emotional mapping. Built from samples, cultural references, and glitchy textures, each track captures a different internal state through rhythm and distortion. The album expands the practice beyond visuals, exploring how digital sound can hold memory and personal narrative.
IKEA x Luichistudio (Illustration / Installation)
Selected for exhibition at IKEA’s Circular Design Exhibition (Barcelona)
Created for an IKEA and The Hood event on circular design, this project transformed a reused IVAR chair through live illustration. The intervention explored material reuse, identity, and the emotional value of everyday objects. The public performance emphasized how design can become a space for collective reflection.
